Ford Heights P.A.C.T. (Police And Children Together) Camp is a special extension to our camps in 2009. The Youth Services Department worked with the principles of Medger Evers Primary Care Center (Mrs. Barnes) and at Cottage Grove School (Mrs. Stephen) in Ford Heights to invite 50 youth grades 4-6 to this camp. Because this is an under-served area the Sheriff of Cook County and the Youth Services Department wanted to do something that would leave a lasting positive impact on the kids and the community.

Eleven Sheriff’s Department officers were chosen to join the Youth Services Department in the camp and serve as mentors, role models, and  as friends for a week. Along with trying to help improve community relations with law enforcement, this camp gave many of these youth lifelong memorable experiences for the first time. The week of activities included bowling, skating, a community food service project, Navy Pier, Lake Front Boat Ride, a vistit to Depaul University, a White Sox Game and more.

The Youth Service Department would like to thank all the parents,  the youth, the officers, the churches, and all the sponsors who helped make this camp possible. We deeply appreciate your contribution. Here are some of the photos from the camp.
