Every summer the Youth Services Department holds P.A.C.T. (Police And Children Together) Camps that are designed to pair kids and officers from their communities together. These week long camps are structured to build bonds and improve relationships with youth and law enforcement by giving children a chance to see a Police Officers as a normal person who likes to have fun just like they do. Each officer selects 3-4 kidsĀ ages 9-12 from their perspective community and brings them to and from camp everyday. P.A.C.T. West starts in June, P.A.C.T. camp South starts in July and this year (2009) a special P.A.C.T. Camp will be done for the Ford Heights Community in August. Along with fun activities like bowling, softball, and swimming, each camp also has a community service project, team building activities, and a graduation ceremony. These are some pics from P.A.C.T.
