Pretty soon, there may be a law that prohibits people from texting & emailing others while behind the wheel. According to CNN, senators are pushing for legislation on this growing problem. The issue came about after “studies showed that the risk of a car accident increases by 50% for people who text message while driving.” Fourteen states already have laws barring drivers from texting & sending emails while driving.
Dont believe its a big deal? Well remember “in September, a commuter train engineer missed a stop signal while trading text messages with a friend, leading to a collision with a freight train that killed 25 people in California, according to federal investigators. The accident also injured 101 people.”
I for one am guilty of texting while driving but try not to do it all the time. With phones such as blackberry and I-phone, texting and emails are convinently sent to you, which makes matters worse. This could be a big change for upcoming drivers in highschool, which means BIG fines if caught in the act.
